About
What this is
PodcastCleanup is a creator workflow tool for the step between recording and publishing: transcribe an episode, clean the transcript, and plan what to publish from it — chapters, short-form clip candidates, show notes, titles. It's built for independent podcasters and interviewers who do this every week and don't want another subscription for it.
What this is not
This is not an audio editor and not a replacement for Descript, Riverside, or your DAW — it never touches the audio itself. It plans the cut; you make the cut in your editor. It's also unofficial: not affiliated with Descript, Apple, Spotify, or OpenAI. AI-generated suggestions (chapters, clips, notes) are drafts — verify quotes before publishing.
How your data is handled
- Audio never leaves your device. Transcription runs in your browser via Whisper (WebGPU/WASM). There is no upload endpoint for audio at all.
- Nothing is stored. No accounts, no database. Close the tab and it's gone.
- The one exception, stated plainly: if you click “Generate publish pack”, the cleaned transcript text (never audio) is sent to our API to run a language model. Don't click it if the text itself is confidential — transcription and cleanup work fully without it.
Why this exists
This site was built from a validated market report — real search data showed creators looking for transcript tools, with every incumbent stopping at “here's your text”. The cleanup and planning layer is the part that was missing. You can read the original research at buildthis123.com.
